Hello all!

Happy holiday season!

I am very proud of my family this year because we, as a unit, have decided that the bloody mania that usually ensues on Christmas Eve at the Rae/Haag/Leland/Judd/Barry Household must come to an end. We have upped our Secret Santa budget 'in light of inflation' for far too long. It has gotten so crazy that last year people got insane gifts comparable to mortgage payments and one person didn't get anything at all due to a clerical error. (Yes, another person got TWO mortgage payments.)

So, this year, we are changing things radically. We are chopping the budget in half. Well, sort of. One half of the amount we're allotted to spend is being pooled together from everyone, and donated in the family name to the Open Pantry. And this donation will be made before Christmas, so that it can be used for Christmas. The rest of the budget will be used to do whatever we choose to do for the person who's name we selected. This can be another donation in their name, or something else.

I'm so proud of us! SO PROUD! I think this is great. We aren't a rich family, but we certainly have had enough between us all to go completely ape-shit on Christmas. No mas. GIVE to people who NEED.

So, that's all. I'm just really happy about this. It's a good thing.

Love, Martha

After watching all but a few episodes and the finale of the Real Housewives of Atlanta, I have decided that

I AM NEVER WATCHING TELEVISION EVER AGAIN.

TV is NOT supposed to make you belligerent.  At least not belligerent enough to make you actually act on said rage.

Jon and Kate, I am truly sorry.  I'll miss you.  Especially you, Sassy (aka Alexis).

Signing off,

Sarah

The way these polls work, yall, is you click on the answer you have chosen in your head.

I appreciate the peanut gallery, but polls are no fun 'less you vote.

OMFG.

I had an email conversation today with the president of my Labor Union in regards to my accepting an offer of voluntary layoff over a month ago, and he has officially referred to me (and the like .05 other people who put in for this 'deal') as being "held hostage by the Pike".

HOSTAGE.

OMFG.

I'm suing.

Goodnight.

Polls are fun. Start one!

Click on 'Start a Topic' anywhere, and then there will be a button to 'Start a Poll'.

Great option for the SLACKERS out there who feel like NOT writing ANYTHING EVER.  They can just click a button.

j/k...  I have heaps of misdirected rage... heaps, people.

Love yall!

No!  It wasn't meant to be a backhanded compliment, just a straight-up compliment.  I was referring to myself as politically insecure - not you.  Foot in mouth

Yes - Hu Ke Lau - asap!

I think (and hope and pray and do seances...) that I will be laid off within this month, so we can Huke it up whenever we please.  A little holiday Huke, like old times!  Don't we 3 always go there when it's snowy out?!  Hmm.

Rant on sista friend, rant on!

Welp, I've officailly pissed off our wedding photographer by not being active in getting people to buy photos.

I'm totally not joking - he's like - mad.

So, five months later, I need to know if anyone needs the link to the pics.  Please say yes, because I think he's going to sue me soon.

Matter of fact, here's the link.  Order a lot.  Please.

Laura, please don't take this the wrong way, but I'm really surprised by your political blogging ability!  I know first hand that it's not as easy as it looks.  I often ask myself "wait - do I know everything there is to know about what I'm about to talk about?  Can I be debunked left and right?!"  But I just do it anyway, because I want to and I can.

Maybe it's because we haven't hung out in so long, but I'm totally digging what you're saying! (Not that I didn't in the 20 years previous...)

Good for you.  And I agree with everything you said.  Especially the 'national sense of purpose'.  I've never really felt particularly invigorated by politicians, but this time around, it's almost like we're - us 'exers' - finally doing something right, and what's more, most people - recovering republicans, elderly people, our parents - agree with us, and have come to realize that we're not all potheads who have apathy oozing out of all of our orifices.

You're absolutely right - we need to be paying attention and being vocal about what goes on around us because it DOES impact the way WE, as young'ns, live.

I am SO excited to support Barack and I can't wait to see what he'll be able to accomplish.  Although my campaign money went to Nader, I am so happy for the President Elect, and I'm also so happy that we will have at least 4 years of hope instead of 4 years of fear.

A friggen MEN!!!

Cheers to Laura!  I love you!

It has come to my attention that some of you may be refraining from posting your thoughts because of timing issues.

If you come across something that you would like to respond to but notice that it is an older post, PLEASE do not hesitate to respond.  That is going to be how this forum runs for a good period of time until we have everyone signing in every day.

There are several of us who sign in every day, so we WILL notice new posts.

Please, I love this site, and I am really proud of it.  I want it to be a place where nobody has any qualms about saying anything they may feel like saying at any given moment.

Also, chances are that the post isn't really as old as you may think it is, in terms of when it was read by others.

So, please, by all means, say whatever you want to WHENEVER you want to.  That's the only way this is going to work.  I am going to keep at it, regardless of who or when or what people are writing.  I love coming here everyday after Perez Hilton and FailBlog, and I am hoping that you'all do too.

Love you all, and please, let this be a place where nothing matters - especially time and content.

For Serious,

Sarah

I really don't know if I'm an absolute poser here, and I'm being serious, but the election of Barack Obama has moved me sooo much.

If anyone watched The View on Wednesday, the day after the election - within the first 3 minutes of the show where they all kind of chime in, Sherri Shepard was a hot mess - she was weeping with joy and pride and talking about her young son having no concept of something like this not even being possible - and it was so beautiful, I was weeping right along with her.

This is such a beautiful moment in American history, I truly believe that.  There will now be an entire generation, and an entire future of people who don't know what it's like to live in a country who says they are so accepting but don't actually act that way.   (Although Prop8 passing in California is another step backwards...)

I never thought I would see this day.  I actually never thought of even thinking about it - that's how far away I assumed it would be.  I think it's amazing, and I am so proud right now to be an American.

I look forward to Obama's presidency, and hope that he can keep up the exciting momentum of an entire nation.

Cheers and good luck to all!

Power to ALL the people!

Kiss

Re: Ha! How Fun!

Me again.
I just had another one of my brilliant thoughts. (See post 'Ha!')
In the event that there are 40 people signed onto PeopleForSandwiches, we would need to sign into Meebo to access our user names.
However, that isn't exactly the case now, is it?
So if there are just 2 of us chatting - say, Beth and I - I would know, by process of elimination and other scientific data, that whatever I have not written into the chat box must have been written by the other person; regardless of that persons identity being displayed as guest8263091680.649. I believe I could deduce that I am in fact conversing with Beth, and not some ill-intentioned brute here for my money.
Okay. I feel better now. We can proceed without fear.

Regards,
your resident smart-ass.

Margarita Pizza!

OGM Jonas and I made a FANTASTIC Margarita pizza!
I have no recipe to share per se, just wanted to make you all DROOL!
HA!

Ha! How Fun!

November 7, 2008 by sarahh

Hey gang.

So I've noticed a few times that some of us have been online at the same time.  So, in lieu of screaming "HI BETHIE!" or "HI LAURA!" at the poor computer screen, I opted to add a wee little chat box!  In'nit cute!

However, the only one I could find that would fit into that minuscule space over there was this one called Meebo.  Downfall of Meebo is that in order to chat under your chosen screen name (and not as 'guest8263091680.649'), you have to go onto the Meebo site and sign in before chatting on PeopleForSandwiches.  Unless that is, you want to state who you are whenever you say anything.  Kinda a pain in the ass, but, whatever.  I ain't no techie, aight?

The other thing is, although I'm not totally sure on this, is that everyone who is signed in under PeopleForSandwiches will be also reading what is written.  That being said, we'll have to keep the shit talking and name calling to a minimum.  Drag.

So, hopefully this will be a nice asset to the site.  Now we just need more people to get on here besides myself, Bethie, and Laura.

Love yall

Ha!

November 1, 2008 by sarahh

So Jonas and I were driving around the other day and we noticed this weird phenomenon where all of the people who had McCain signs were on the right side of the road, and all of the people with Obama signs were on the left.  It was really weird - enough to be noticable.

And then, the other day I was driving to the grocery store, I noticed this again.  It was like the right side of the road is conservative, and the left is liberal.  So strange.

So, while I was grocery shopping, I was like 'hmm, I should do some sort of breakthrough study as to why this might be' - I would be in the papers, on the news, and I would be praised for my incredible findings.

So after I got my grocerys, I was driving home with this new sense of genious.  And then it happened.

All of the friggen Obama signs had somehow switched to the RIGHT side of the road!  Whaah?!?!  What the hell happened?!

I'm an idiot.

Have a good day yall. Wink

Re: Please explain

October 23, 2008 by sarahh

Yeah, that was kind of a weird thing to say. I heard Barack trying to explain what Joe meant in an interview, and he said that what he meant was that Barack will be inheriting all of the threats and issues that already exist today. Like Iraq, Iran, North Korea, and the like. I don't think he was making any kind of threat. I think he was just implying that they are both definitely going to be tested by the challenges that have been created over the past 8 years - I think he just wanted to put an emphasis on the fact that they would be ready to face these things - maybe he should have gone a little easier on the wording and the overall creepiness of the speech.

I think it's been blown up just like most things these poor politico's say. I like Joe. I think he's good people, and this doesn't seem to me like anything to be worried about. He's just got ants in the pants.

Cheers! Vote Nader!
