A question for all of you sandwich connoisseurs from your low carb companion -
does your definition of a sandwich HAVE to include bread?
I've made a few kick-ass meals lately with sandwich-esque qualities, however, replacing the bread with lettuce... Is this a sandwich?
Um.. I feel like more information is needed.
I, myself, am not necessarily of the sandwich connoiseur ilk, so I can't answer that question.
But as a fan of bread in general, I would have so say yes - bread is a requirement - just becasue I would feel really bad for the bread if it couldn't partake.
What sort of non-carb creation are you refering to?
Sandwiches must have bread. It can be sliced, wrapped, or stuffed bread, but it needs a bread of sorts. Beth, your lettuce idea, although low carb, is not a sandwich, it's more like a salad in your hands.
As a fellow sandwich lover, I must insist that bread be present as to not devalue the integrity of the sandwich.
Might I suggest wheat bread as a healthful alternative?
As a broke and displaced mortgage worker, I have been eating sandwiches every day for dinner since July; hence, my passion for the bread component. Sorry Bethie, I'd be awful hungry if it was just lettuce :(
YAY I JOINED!
yeah, yeah - I sorta expected this response from all you bread-eating carb lovers. I was just hoping that my delicious turkey BLT lettuce wrap would qualify within your sandwich hierarchy… oh well, it’s not going to stop me from enjoying every bite of the “salad in my hands” :P
OMG Salad in my Hands is like the best band name I've ever heard of.
ooooh - only if you name the first album "Tossed"
dirty dirty girl ;)
whoa...We have to think about the censors here. Not only for the band and album name, but also for the sandwich folk out there. Not everyone has their mind in the gutter like to two. Mmmmm....gutter sammich...gurgle gurgle gurgle.
